It’s the last quarter of a mile that’ll kick your ass! – Capt. Dale Dye (Col Sink in Band of Brothers)
On 29 May we will be climbing Currahee in Georgia – the training site of the American Paratroopers at Camp Toccoa during WWII, as featured in Band of Brothers.
Made famous by the motto of the 506th Infantry Regiment, the name Currahee is derived from the Cherokee word gurahiyi which means stand alone. The “three miles up, three miles down” of the mountain became an important part of training for the men of the 506th, and we want to follow in their footsteps.
As an incentive to get our unfit butts to the top and back down, we’ve decided to do it for charity and would like to split the money raised between the Royal British Legion East Barnet and The World War II Foundation.
Please help us raise money for these two fantastic charities by donating.
